About the Bears
I love a challenge. If you would like me to create a special bear for you or for someone you know, I will happily do so. I can create bears to suit any occasion - birthdays, anniversaries, weddings - or perhaps you want a bear dressed in a certain way - a painter, for example. Hugs Unlimited bears are created from original designs, with needle-sculpted and air-brushed features and a variety of different fillings for maximum poseability. However, I never use lead. Drawing on over 20 years experience of bear-making and dressmaking, I design and make all the outfits with the individual bear in mind using a wide range of exciting fabrics such as rich silks and velvets and vintage lace. Most dressed bears have a full set of underwear and the outfits are finished with carefully chosen vintage jewellery and buttons. All accessories are carefully sourced to match the bear's personality. A combination of design, bear-making and tailoring techniques machine embroidery and needle-felting ensure that the bear, the outfit and the accessories complement each other fully. The majority of my bears have genuine antique boot button eyes, some of them are Victorian and would have been made before the teddy bear was invented!
